The Vegas Golden Knights are a professional ice hockey team based in the Las Vegas metropolitan area. The team began play in the 2017–18 NHL season, and is a member of the Pacific Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). The team is owned by Black Knight Sports & Entertainment, a consortium led by Bill Foley, and plays its home games at T-Mobile Arena on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada , according to Wikipedia.
Why in the world would I follow this new ice hockey team? Well, let me tell ya. When the Dallas Cowboys fail to extend their season, my interest in sports nosedives. So instead of sinking into a funk, I have decided to learn how to follow other sports. And instead of simply following teams located in my native Texas, I have decided to go with the Vegas Golden Knights for hockey, Golden State Warriors for basketball and with New York Yankees for baseball. Is there a golden baseball team? That would be a nice trifecta, don’t you think?
As of this blog, the Golden Knights are 26-9 and on track to be the best ever expansion team ever. Not bad. One of the magazines filled with experts expected the Vegas team to have a terrible season since they are new to the NHL table.
